Model: Metroliner 2 deck.

Identification and build dates: Chassis numbers various on all Metroliners up to June 1986.

Defect: The hydraulic pipe for the fan drive circuit connecting the switching valve to the test point may fracture due to it being below specification. Consequently, hydraulic oil will spray over the engine, resulting in engine compartment fire.

Remedial action: Replace hydraulic pipes with quality assured ones.

Number of vehicles involved: 125. Model: Bedford YMP 2 DZO coaches. Identification and build dates: Chassis numbers FT102627 to GT104379 from November 1984 to January 1986.

Defect: The possibility exists of the left and right hand rear brake assemblies having been installed on the incorrect sides, causing a reduction in the efficiency of the rear brakes.

Remedial action: All vehicles to be recalled and the rear brakes inspected and, where, necessary, corrected.

Number of vehicles involved: 57. Model: Mercedes-Benz 0303. Identification and build dates: Chassis numbers 300315210389862 and 30038523043560 from November 1983 to November 1985.

Defect: The offside extra exit door can be opened whilst the vehicle is in motion. Remedial action: Recall vehicles to modify present system to ensure that these doors cannot be opened above 3kni/h.

Number of vehicles involved: 14. Model: Dennis Dorchester coach chassis. Identification and build dates: Chassis numbers SDA 801/101 to SDA 810/157 from October 1982 to October 1986. Defect: Fatigue failure of the anti-roll bar cross member at the attachment of the anti-roll bar mounting brackets. Total failure of this cross member could result in detachment of anti-roll bar from the chassis and consequent loss of roll stability.

Remedial action: Recall vehicles to replace cross member with a modified assembly.

Number of vehicles involved: 57. Model: Neoplan N722/3 underframe fitted with Plaxton 4000 body. Identification and build date: All Neoplan three-axle underframes from chassis number 85 to 8612330 from December 1985 to May 9, 1986.

Defect: Left hand rod end ball joint contacts inner side wall of tyre when the vehicle is cornering hard.

Remedial action: Fit a packing plate between the left hand steering arm and stub axle assembly to increase track rod ball joint to tyre side wall clearance.

Number of vehicles involved: 24.
