• Hauliers are showing a growing interest in computers for cost management purposes according to Allied Aims, which has won 285,000 worth of orders for its Vehicle Cost Management System (VCMS) in the past three months.
Ten months ago Allied Aims first offered VCMS on IBM personal computers and IBM PC-compatible computers in an attempt to cater for the needs of small fleet operators. Allied claims VCMS provides financial benefits for fleets of 25 vehicles or more.
The latest orders for VCMS are from the Cooperative Wholesale Society. Geest, United Rum Merchants, Surrey Fire Brigade, North East Derbyshire District Council, Sun Alliance and Express Foods.
• Dow Freight Services of Stockport has retained its contract for the nationwide delivery of parts for Lada Cars. Following recent growth in the sales of Lada cars, the contract is now worth around
2300,000, delivering parts to 201 dealer outlets.
• West Midlands commercial vehicle maintenance firm Ackers Jarrett is moving to a new 2150,000 site at Darlaston.
