Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN Alan Millar's article of February 14 the picture of a toothless yet grenade-throwing lion is bizarre even by Commercial Motor standards. These are malicious as well as absurdly mixed metaphors which lead inevitably to the distortions, confusions and contradictions in which the article abounds.

It is impossible in the space of a letter to deal with all the article's baseless criticisms. Referring to a few of them, I must point out that the RHA has not merely "sniped" at the extravagances of the RTITB. It's attack has been direct. Only guesswork can be responsible for your criticisms of the Association's attitude towards the transfer of hgv testing stations to the public sector. In fact, it is in all respects identical to that of the FTA with which it is closely co-operating on this issue.

Astor his comments on our response to the Armitage Inquiry, he seems to be completely out of touch with the views of your readers who operate lorries for hire or reward. They view with immense concern the arbitrary, additional increase in taxation which Armitage recommends especially since the Inquiry acknowledges that the increased taxation produces no environmental benefits.

The RHA's response to Armitage was approved unanimously by the National Council. The Council consists of experienced hauliers who will be affected by the Report's recommendations in many practical ways. Their views are of much greater importance and value than those of journalists obviously intent only in filling their journal's pages with controversy.
