PLAN to ban lorries of 30cwt or more from parking in most streets in Wythenshawe is being considered by Manchester Highways Committee.
If agreed, the Wythenshawe experiment would be the first step towards a total prohibition on overnight lorry parking in the city — except in certain designated areas — and talks are to be held with the police and haulage firms on whether the plan is feasible.
Greater Manchester Council already plans to ban hgv from private and council estates in areas like Stockport, where residents have complained of road hazards and lowering of the value of property.
