Ronald G. Hooker, 47, has been appointed managing director of Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd., taking the position held previously by C. "Bill" Baden, who resigned last October. Mr. Hooker, who continues as managing director of Associated Fire Alarms Ltd.. is closely connected with Hambros Bank, serving on the board of a number of companies with which they have large investments. including John M. Henderson Ltd., and Westover Garage and Engineering Group, of which he is chairman. Carluke, Lanarkshire; Frank McCran, formerly with Telehoist Ltd., has taken over as SBS sales manager for Scotland. The SBS Scottish works makes bodies and tipping gears for chassis/cabs supplied by BLMC Bathgate.

Ivor Wheeler, until recently manager of the Leyland Group depot at Aldenham, has joined the distributor for Leyland Group Products, C.V. (Sales and Repairs) Ltd., as manager of its works at Cranes Farm Road. Basildon, Essex,

J. Davy has been elected chairman of the RHA's Kendal sub-area : A. E. Nelson is vice-chairman: J. Brailsford is secretary. R. S. Brown has been elected chairman of the Worksop sub-area : N. Charles Brace, 41, has been appointed supply and transportation manager for Phillips Petroleum Company Europe-Africa, in both continents--a new post. Mr. Brace, who will be located in Brussels, was formerly the company's UK supply and transportation officer. He is succeeded by C. W. Lee.

Richard Bottrill, general manager and engineer with Sunderland Corporation Transport for 12 months is leaving to become general manager of Portsmouth Passenger Transport. Mr. Bottrill held a similar position at South Shields before his Sunderland appointment.

Cllr. Kevin J. Fitzmaurice has been appointed a member of the East Anglia Area Transport Users Consultative Committee to fill a vacancy caused by the resignation of Aid. J. Malley. Cltr. Fitzmaurice is managing director of Filzmaurice Carriers Ltd., vice-chairman of the RHA's express carriers' functional group and a past chairman of the RHA's Norwich sub-area. He is a member of Norwich City Council.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the death of Thomas Alexander Duncan.

Mr Duncan, who died at the age of 50, was general manager of Northern Ireland Carriers. He had been a member of staff of the Ulster Transport Authority, and became chief accountant of Northern Ireland Carriers four years ago, later combining that post with that of company secretary.
