VENAL specifications for the Channel I tunnel had yet to be drawn up, said Lord Chesham when asked on Wednesday about the size and type of lorry it could take. The Channel tunnel study group's proposals showed that road vehicles up to 13 ft. 4 in. high overall could be carried without length or weight limits. Semitrailers up to 14 ft. 6 in. high could be taken on special rail wagons.
