Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

BETWEEN April 1, 1957, and February 9 this year, Belfast Corporation buses lost-6,652,595 passengers. Mr. J. Mackk, general manager, reported this at the annual meeting of the transport committee last week.

He said there were 3,488.294 fewer journeys on trolleybuses and 3,164,301 fewer on motorbuses. However, although receipts on the trolleybus services dropped by £13,695, motorbus returns went up by £4,159. In each case the mileage figures dropped—trolleybuses by 352,276 and motorbuses by 212,328.

PERKINS SCHOOL'S EUROPEAN TOUR

AMOBILE school has been dispatched by F. Perkins, Ltd., to make a 10,000mile tour during the next four months through Germany, Belgium, Holland, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. It will give information to about 2,000 people on the latest engines in the campany's range, including the 1.6-litre unit.

The school consists of a Dodge 3-tonner with a special body by H.C.13. Engineering, Ltd. Four engines are mounted in special cradles so that they can be quickly unloaded for demonstration. A similar school is now operated in Argentina, whilst another has been loaned to Yugoslavia.

NO MORE CITY TOURS

ALICENCE for city bus tours is to be surrendered by Hull Transport Committee. These tours were operated on Sunday afternoons and evenings from 1951-54, but Mr. G. H. Pulfrey, general manager, has told the transport committee that the novelty wore off.

He said tours operated by East Yorkshire Motor Services, Ltd., proved a strong counter-attraction, and the Traffic Commissioners had declared that they would not license an operation when it was obvious that costs per vehicle-mile exceeded revenue.

The committee have decided to seek permission for a semi-circular service in Hull on Saturdays and Sundays, covering about 12+ miles.

NEW EXPORT RECORD

EXPORT of 13,659 commercial vehicles in January helped to swell the volume of the motor industry's overseas trade in that month to a record, with nearly 60,000 units being shipped. Value of exports at £43.25m. was also a record, and output of vehicles at 111,330 set a new level.
