Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AST Friday, application was made L..; to a King's Bench Divisional Court, composed of Justices Talbot and Du Pa.,tcq, by Valliant Direct Coaches; Ltd., for rules nisi directed to the Minister of Transport and the SouthEastern Traffic CoMmissioners, calling on them to show cause for their refusal to allow single tickets to be issued from the seaside to London on certain. express services' from London to Brighton, Eastbourne, Southsea and other south-coast resorts.

Mr. R. P. Croon-I-Johnson, for the coach company, explained thatit was allowed to issue return tickets from London, but not to issue a single ticket for the coast. The veto about single tickets friim the coast caused great inconvenience, as coaches had to return to London, in any case, and parents fetching their children from school could not take the children back with them in the same coach. It could not be said that this condition acted in the public interest or tended to minimize services.

Another point of complaint was that the company could not issue a return ticket from the coast to London...

Counsel added that the SouthEastern .Commisoners granted the company certain advantages, which eased the situation, but when the Southern Railway Co., which was a substantial shareholder in Southdown Motor Services, Ltd., appealed, the Minister of Transport ordered an amendment of the bookings by deleting those concessions.

Their Lordships granted the rules applied for, and the matter will be argued in due course.

JOINT SYSTEM FOR PLYMOUTH?

VET another scheme for company" municipal operation is reported. It is stated that the Western National Omnibus Co., Ltd., has submitted to Plymouth Corporation a scheme under which the two undertakings would he merged for the operation of services within a 15-mile radius of Plymouth. The new undertaking would be controlled by four directors, representing equally the two interests.

The value of the municipal system as stated to be about £1,000,000, whilst, of the authorized capital of £2,083,576 of the Western National concern, £1,796,132 has been issued.

LYTHAM-BLACKPOOL CO-ORDINATION.

I T appears to be doubtful whether

Blackpool Corporation will, in the immediate future, acquire Lytham St. Annes' transport system. Instead, subcommittees of the two authorities are considering a more advanced scheme of co-ordination. Under the new plan, Lytham St. Arsnes' undertaking would remain separate.

It is stated that the cost to Blackpool of acquiring the system would have been at least £120.000.
