Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

mET profits of coach and bus opera' tors in Great Britain having more than 24 vehicles increased by £754,000 in the financial year from April 1, 1955, to March 31, 1956. ln the comparable 1954-55 period, the total profits were £12,107,000. The London Transport Executive are not included.

Municipal profits dropped from £1,807,000 in 1954-55 to £1,630,000. Private operators' yield was up by £930,000 to £11,231,000.

The total receipts in 1955-56 were El 80,5m., compared with £168.1m. in the previous year. Stage services earned £157.9m. (£147m. in 1954-55); express, £8m. (£7.4m.); excursions and tours, £4.2m. (£4m.); and contract carriages, £7.7m. (E7.3m.).

Of the total expenditure of 1167.7. in 1955-56, the wages of drivers and conductors (including National Insurance) were the largest single item at £68.9m. This was an. increase of £7m. over the previous year.

COACH OPERATOR EXPANDS DART of the excursion and tour 1 business of M. Wakley and Son, Ltd., Northop, has been acquired by Messrs. P. and 0. Lloyd, Bagillt, Flints. The North Western Traffic Commissioners are proposing to reduce, from 10 to 6, the maximum number of vehicles Wakley's are authorized to run on any day from Northop, Ruthin. Denbigh and Mold.

New Christchurch Road: Work has started on a new two-mile road at Christchurch. Hants. with twin carriageways from Somerford Bridge, where a roundabout will be built on the Christchurch-Southampton road, to Fountain Corner.

Guarantee Doubled: The agricultural and industrial tractor divisions of the David Brown group have extended their guarantee for new products from six months to 12. The tractor division's Parsley factory is to close in April. when the lease runs out.
