supplementary fue 1 allowances would be dealt with on the basis of the priority nature of the goods carried and the extent to which they must be carried by road, the South-Eastern Regional Transport Commissioner announced last week. Applications should, therefore, be supported by statements indicating the class and volume of the goods and the scope of operation.
Large operators in the Metropolitan Area are being instructed by the Regional Transport Commissioner of a special procedure for applying fog supplementary issues to reduce the amount of paper work.
Separate schedules will be required in the case of traffics of varying degrees of priority. The applications will be for 16 weeks, but the first issue will cover only four weeks.
Members of the London and Home Counties Division of the Traders Road Transport Association who, after receiving the supplementary allowance, still have less than 50 per cent, of the fuel they normally use, have been asked by the secretary, Mr. R. E. G. Brown, to give him details.
He also advises them to send a copy to their M.P.s, and to tell them how it will affect their business, and employees in their constituencies.
"I am quite sure that the gravity of the position is not yet recognized," Mr. Brown commented. "It is up to members to give us the ammunition. We will use it."
B.M.C. DRIVERS' CONTEST
A COMPETITION in which drivers fa. are invited to express their opinions about their vehicles, and to suggest improvements, is announced by the B.M.C. Drivers' Club. Cash prizes are offered for the suggestions considered the best by a panel of B.M.C. officials. Only club members are eligible for the competition, and on the form they are asked to state the type of Austin or Morris vehicle that they drive, and the weekly mileage they cover.
