• A new single-shaft two-speed landing gear, known as the Mk IV automatic, will be shown at Earls Court by Intertruck Ltd, Dewlands Industrial Estate, Dartford, Kent. It provides positive gear engagement when a ratio change is made by moving the shaft axially. A powerful spring is retained in a trunnion-mounted housing and axial movement of the shaft during a ratio change compresses the spring; when the housing has moved over the dead-centre position, spring pressure assists in the shaft's continued movement and forces the gears into engagement.
