• The Hawker Siddeley Group was fined £6 at Bow Street magistrates' court last Friday for using a motor vehicle which was not covered by a carriers' licence.

The group faced three charges resulting from the use of an articulated vehicle by its subsidiary company Hands Trailers Ltd on three dates in January on trade plates when. Jue to the new regulations concerning the Ise of trade plates which came into force on lanuary 1, the vehicle should have been ;pecified on a carrier's licence.

Pleading guilty to the three charges, :ounsel for the defendants, said that the )ffenees were committed as a result of an Idministrative oversight. The vehicle had )perated legally under trade plates prior to anuary I 1970 and when the new egulations came into force the company's ransport manager thought he had till the nd of January to transfer the vehicle to a arrier's licence.

Defendants were fined 40s on each of the tree offences and were ordered to pay £3 ost s.
