AS reported in this journal on July 24, the organizers of the Portsmouth eliminating round of the Lorry Driver of the Year competition used a card which proved a great success not only among the Marshals and scorers but also among the drivers. ,
The card, the front side of which is reproduced (right) is at all times carried by the driver. Particulars of the drivel and his vehicle arc entered when the vehicle is received for measuring up. Penalty marks, which are totted up by the marshals, are recorded in the spaces provided. Thus the driver can see exactly where he has gone wrong, or where he has done good.
. The back of the card carries the scoring for tests 2 and 3 in the manceuvring section, and there is a space provided for the grand total. The cards are handed in when test 3 is completed.
Sergeant Bernard Hale, Portsmouth organizing secretary, who actually designed the card, considers this to be "the ultimate in scoring for these competitions, and it is published in the hope that other eliminating centres will adopt this easy and simple method of scoring.
