P-1 A PRELIMINARY meeting to discuss the re-introduction of heavy goods vehicle drivers' licences, described as useful ", was held on Tuesday between the Ministry of Transport, the R.H.A., the T.R.T.A., B.R.S,, British Railways Board and representatives of four trade unions. The Commercial Maim. understands that there were no differences of view about any of the fundamentals.
It was agreed that further thought would be given to' a number of particular topics: size categories, the problem of articulated vehicles and special classes— for instance workshop drivers and others who. for various reasons, do not normally drive goods vehicle in the day to day course who may do so from time to time. The actual form of a certificate of experience was also discussed. A further meeting will be held in October.
