(IF 53,607 vehicles imported by South Africa last year, nearly half came from the United Kingdom. The U.S.A. sent 11,957, and Germany 4,695. Vehicles of American manufacture, however, outnumber other makes already in service. Of more than 750,000 now operating in the Union, 385,190 are of U.S. origin. There are 171,669 British vehicles. South Africa have 148,386 goods vehicles and 5,066 buses.
