THE GOVERNMENT this week refused to stop firms accepting goods only on lorries driven by trade union members. Mr. Walter Loveys (Tory, Chichester) asked the Minister of Labour to introduce legislation to stop firms issuing written delivery instructions that goods must only be delivered to them by drivers with union membership tickets.
But Mr, Roy Hattersley, the Parliamentary Secretary, told him it would be wrong to consider a suggestion of this kind in advance of the report of the Royal Commission on Trade Unions and Employers' Associations,
