DROPOSALS for financing the Itraining of the million people employed in the road transport industry will be submitted to the Minister of Labour by about mid-July.

Announcing this this week, the Road Transport Industry Training Board says that a time-schedule of action by its committees and working parties has now been approved that should enable it to have a levy income by October and to start paying grants for the training carried out by employers during the year August 1 1967 to July 311968.

The Board will inform the industry's 100,000 employers of its proposals for training grants as soon as possible.

It has now also offered its support to plans for the establishment of multi-industry training groups in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, where there are numerous widely scattered small employers remote from adequate training facilities.

As a preliminary to any action the Board may take in conjunction with other training boards, it has undertaken its own study of the training needs of the road transport industry in these remote Scottish areas.

Set up in September last year, the Board covers the entire road transport field, including passenger transport, road haulage and motor vehicle sales and repair.
