Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

ANOVELTY in vice construction, which greatly increases the capabilities of the tool, is employed in a new and ingenious workshop vice, designated the Noveto. Marketed in this country by E. L. Youngleson, Ltd., 67-69, Chancery Lane, London, W.C.2,. the vice is a French invention and differs from the orthodox type in that it can grip cylindrical, or irregularly shaped; objectsas firmly as those with fiat parallel sides.

The movable jaw is made in two sections, each of which is pivoted about a vertical axis and can be swung aromni in order to form, with the fixed jaw, a triangle, thus providing ui ideal grip for round work.

In addition to the sides, the ends of the movable sections are milled, so that either face can be used, and thus smaller articles can be gripped. The 41r-in. vice will grip cylindrical articles of diameters from 3-32-in. to 51-in., whilst the 5-in. model takes round objects from Fin. to 7i-in. in diameter.

It is clear that the 7:Coveto vice has a wider field of application than an ordinary parallel-jaw vice, for it is quite as satisfactory fer holding jobs with flat parallel sides as an ordinary

biol. The movable sections are, of course, self-aligning, but they can be fixed in line, if desired, by a locking bar.

The larger model, the jaws of which give a parallel opening of 64ins., costs £5 15s. or £6 17s. 6d. with a swivelling base. The price of the smaller vice, which opens in the normal manner to 4i-ins.. is £3 10s. or £4 2s. 6d. with a swivelling base. It is probable that a third, still smaller, model will be added to the range.
