New Twice-daily Coach Services on a 15-hour Schedule

ITIHE Scottish Motor Traction Co., • Ltd., is operating twice-daily coach services between London and Edinburgh and separately between London and Glasgow, the journey occupying about 15 hours, the services having started on Friday, April 17th.

Departures from the London Cdastal Coaches, Ltd., station at Lupus Street, London, S.W.1, for Edinburgh are at 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., the arrival times at Edinburgh being respectively 10.45 p.m. and 8.55 a.m. The departures from Edinburgh (Princes Street) are at 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., arrival times in London being respectively 11.15 p.m. and 7.55 a.m.

The services between London and Glasgow operate from London at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and from Glasgow at 7.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m., the Glasgow departures being from Drindas Street. Actually, the Glasgow service is operated by Midland Bus Services, Ltd., a subsidiary of the S.M.T. concern. The route is via Grantham, Doncaster and Scotch Corner, Edinburgh vehicles proceeding thence via Darlington, Newcastle, Coldstream, etc., and Glasgow vehicles via Brough, Carlisle, Crawford, etc. The fares are 30s. single and 50s. return, and there are no intermediate bookings. Lavatory accommodation is available on the night coaches.

In time for the Whitsun week-end the company is commencing a service between London and Edinburgh, the journey occupying two days. On three days of the week the route will be via Oxford and Stratford-on-Avon to Chester, and on the second day via the English lakes to Edinburgh. On two other days of the week the route will be via Cambridge to York and, on the second day, via Durham to Edinburgh.

The fares will no 32s. 6d. single and 62s. 6d. return, these not covering the hotel accommodation. Leyland Tiger 26-seaters are mainly used.
