IVECO IS URGING the EU to help rid the roads of polluting trucks by introducing a co-ordinated fleet renewal programme.
CEO Alfredo Altavilla said: “Together we must get our advanced, clean vehicles on Europe’s roads. We need long-term policies that secure a sustained fleet renewal.” But he stressed that he isn’t calling for “market-distorting purchase incentives”. Instead he wants measures that are “aligned with the environmental impact of the vehicle that is doing the job”, citing roaduse pricing as an example.
He explained that 50% of particulate matter emissions from CVs are produced by the pre-Euro-3 fleet.
