Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE CM £6000 study award scheme has attracted good-quality entries from the UK, mainland Europe and Africa.

Entries are still coming in and all those who requested entry forms are being reminded that the closing date is November 3, so you still have time.

Entry forms will be sent to prospective entrants on receipt of a phone call on (01) 261-8484 or a letter to the Editor, Commercial Motor, Room 62, Dorset House, Stamford Street, London SE1 9LU.

Director-general of the Transport Directorate at the European Commission, Raymond Le Goy, told CM this week that the winner of the P&O co-sponsored award, if he wishes to visit the Commission, "will be given every facility". Infradex is based at Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, and carries outbound hire and reward goods, returning with bottled gas fires for its British business (CM, September 28, 1979). In view of this new development it is seeking another 20 tractive units and 40 trailers to be added to its 0-licence at Plymouth.

"I believe in accompanied traffic," Colin Champness told CM. "It's safest and fastest for the customer. Two days are saved compared with the route through France, whether you go via Dieppe, St Malo, or Cherbourg.

"The French/Spanish border disputes really brought home to me what can be gained by going direct to Spain. This is a big growth route and is no sixmonth wonder. Another advantage of having facilities at the port is that we can help hauliers to be cost-effective in this recession by making up trailer loads to 38 tonnes."
