BRITISH Road Services Data reight system has bee introduced at the Western BR, depot in Portswood Roac Southampton.
Using computer facilities an advance communication techn ques, BPS says it will be able t increase freight movement eff ciency both to and from th docks and for local industry.
The Southampton Datafreigldepot will be linked to a centre computer and through it to othe Datafreight depots throughoL the UK. The network currentl includes 35 locations but will ir crease to 60 by the end of th year.
The system claims to reduc expenditure on fuel and distribL tion and will be demonstrated E CM's Fleet Management Confei ence at the Royal Lancaste Hotel, London, on October 9.
