AS previously announced in Commercial Motor, this journal has arranged with the British School of Motoring for a special training course aimed at fitting drivers for the h.g.v. driving test which will become a statutory requirement for many drivers late this year or early in 1969.
Carried out on vehicles supplied by the applicant, the six-hour course (which may be taken in separate hourly periods) covers practical and theoretical training by experts. Application may be made to any BSM branch in the London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bristol or Norwich areas.
Applications should be made on the accompanying booking form, which carries with it a special CM reduced rate: for a vehicle up to 3 tons, £7 13s (normally £9); for a vehicle over 3 tons £8 5s (normally £9 15s).
The course has been recognized for grants by the Road Transport Industry Training Board. Grants will be at the rate of £10 a day (for off-the-job h.g.v. training) plus travelling expenses where appropriate.
Fill in the form and post or take it to any BSM branch in the areas mentioned above. (Do not send it to CM).
