Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Wheel Alignment Gauge

ANEW optical alignment gauge, modified to make the alignment of small wheels easier, is to be introduced by the Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., Birmingham, 24.

To suit many sizes of wheel, the pointers of the AGO/30 have three alternative height positions and are adjustable laterally. The scale has been calibrated in degrees and minutes.

A simple calculator has been incorporated for converting angular readings to amounts of toe-in or toe-out, if the alignment is done according to such data, and is applicable to rim diameters from 8-24 in. This same dial may also bc used to convert toe-in or toe-out on one diameter to the equivalent on another diameter.

Telescopic Trolley

ASIMPLE hand-operated hydraulic elevating trolley is now available from Farrow and Jackson, Ltd., 41-42 Prescot Street, London, E.1. The base of the trolley is carried on four wheels, two of which are pivoted, and the load platform is attached to this by four telescopic legs, elevation being effected by a single central hydraulic. ram.

The standard model, has a platform area of 2 ft. 9 in. by .1 ft. 9 in. and stands 2 ft, 5 in. high. Loads of up to 8 cwt. can be raised to the full height of 4 ft. in 35 seconds, and it is stated _that little physical effort is required to operate the hand pump.

A half-turn of the handle in an anticlockwise direction opens the lowering valve.

Harmless Degreasing

ASOLUBLE degreaser is available from Berry, Wiggins and Co., Ltd., Field House, Breams Buildings, Fetter Lane, London, E.C.4. One part or Chevron Berrilux C mixed with seven parts of paraffin, it is claimed, will clean grease and oil effectively from machinery, concrete and other surfaces.

Removal of the solution from a treated component or area is by hosing down with clean water. Advantages claimed for the method are that it replaces the use of rags and expensive caustic treatment, it will not stain or corrode non-ferrous materials, and that it produces no harmful fumes.

Testing Running Engines DESIGNED for checking the cylinder compression in mediumand highspeed oil engines which have no special provision for checking from the cylinder head, the Diestester, produced by the Dunedin Engineering Co., Ltd., 51 Beauchamp Place, London. S.W.3, enables the compression of oil engines to be verified under normal running conditions.

To operate the appliance, it is necessary only to remove the injector c26 from the cylinder to be checked, insert the Diestester in the open port and bolt the device in place of the injector. Adaptors are supplied with the instrument to cover the differences in reach and size between various types of injector. Pressure is shown by a gauge reading which is retained until pressure is released by the operative.

Welding and Cutting THREE additions to the range of welding and cutting equipment produced by the D. S. Baddeley Engineering Co., Ltd., 43-45 York Street, Glasgow, C.2, are the Clyde high-pressure welding blow-pipe, the Argyle high-pressure blow-pipe and the Scotia sheet-metal cutter.

The Clyde outfit is supplied complete with seven nozzles and an assembly spanner, and covers a range of work from 1/32 in. to.1, in. thick. The Argyle is provided with five nozzles and deals with from 22 gauge to 5/16 in. thick.

The Scotia sheet-metal cutting equipment comprises two nozzles, a single roller guide and a spanner. It was originally designed for cutting thin sheet metal without leaving a residue of slag, but the cutting range has now been increased to 1 in. thickness.

The cutter has a one-piece step nozzle to deal with material from 26 gauge to 10 gauge, and a multi-hole nozzle suitable for cutting mild steel from 10 gauge to -1. in. thick. Circlecutting attachments are available.

Electrode for Mild Steel

AN improved type of manual welding electrode for mild steel, which combines the good welding properties of the B.S.1719 Class 2 electrodes with the mechanical properties and X-ray sound weld metal of the low-hydrogen Class 6 electrodes, has been introduced by Quasi-Arc, Ltd., 13ilston, Stalls. Ferromax, as the electrode is called, represents a new approach to the problem of hydrogen in weld metals, having a rutile-type covering and yet depositing a weld-metal low in hydrogen content. This results in an improved shape of fillet weld, compared with the standard low-hydrogen electrodes, and there is a reduction of fumes.

The new electrode has the code No. E 917 under B.S.I719 classification, and, conforms to B.S. 639. It is approved by Lloyd's Register of Shipping and the Ministry of Transport

Guide's Wider Scope T°give a wider range of data, the method of presenting information has been changed in Volume 4 of the " Servicing Guide to British Motor Vehicles," by A. J. K. Moss.

Published by the Trader Publishing Co., Ltd.. Dorset House_ Stamford Street, London, S.E_1, the book costs £2 17s. 6d. (£3 by post). The major difference from preceding volumes is that standard proprietary components are reviewed separately in detail, whilst proprietary oil engines are treated as separate components because of their different applications.

Twenty-two service data sheets, covering over 40 different models of car and commercial vehicle, are accompanied by information on three oil engines and 18 articles on the servicing of some 25 types of Component, ranging from carburetters to automatic transmissions,

High-discharge Overloader PA.A NEW version of' the Merton Overloader, which has a discharge height of 26 ft.. incorporates a 1-cu-yd. bucket. It is cable operated, and the bucket travels from the digging to the discharge position on inclined overhead rails.

Concessionnaires for Merton Overloaders and Two-way loaders are Mackay Industrial ' Equipment, Ltd., Faggs Road, Feltham, Middx.
