• With the launch of our electronicallycontrolled SAMT transmission I feel a recurring sense of deja vu. In 1969 I was involved in launching the first Fuller transmissions into Europe and had to overcome the psychological barrier that operators had erected because of their lack of understanding of the product.
We had yet a similar experience in 1986, when we launched our Twin Splitter and with the advent of the SAMT transmission, with electronics, we anticipate those barriers being built even higher.
While we can understand operators' adversity to change, we find that the reluctance to change is often for the wrong reason.
Electronics on a conventional mechanical transmission can offer improved fuel consumption and journey times, consistency of operation, reduced driveline abuse, reduced weight and efficiency over hydrostatic transmissions.
Electronically-controlled transmissions are here to stay.
