Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Dear Sir • Having just read the article on brakes by your contributor Peter Wallage in Workshop's August edition, I would like to make a couple of comments that I hope readers will find helpful.

Page 14, column one relates to grease and at the Workshop Conference at Telford since then, I mentioned specialist greases for certain brakes. Our green grease is a very good all-round mechanical brake grease, but on high-load application such as FCSSSA shoe tips a "copaslip" type of grease is advocated and for the expander mechanism another special grease is used.

Page 14, column two refers to a diagram on page 15 as being that of a 145 brake. Unfortunately, the diagram shown is the old FCSS used on ERF, Seddon, Dennis and some other Leyland vehicles. The T45 Roadtrain used the Twinstop II. May I add that a member of your technical staff is more than welcome to spend some time with us at West Bromwich discussing some of the newer brakes.
