• The manager of the liquidators of SKJ Motors (Shelley) was fined £350 by the Huddersfield Magistrates last week for allowing a company to be formed to take over Sicrs assets and to use PSV vehicles under SKJ's licence.
William Swindell, appointed by Peat Marwick McLintock, admitted specimen offences of aiding and abetting Droveridge to use a public service vehicle without an operator's licence or insurance. The magistrates also endorsed his driving licence with three points.
Prosecuting for the North Eastern Traffic Area, Richard Wadkin said Swindell had allowed the vehicles to be used despite being warned by the Traffic Area that the discs should be returned.
For Swindell, Michael Shepherd said the SKJ vehicles had been covered by a block insurance for a period of 30 days following the appointment of a receiver but this had not been followed up. As far as the unauthorised use was concerned, Swindell had misunderstood the advice he had received from the traffic area.
