• A newly-launched AWD TL 8.14 is one of six trucks being used on a distribution contract for batteries won by St Helensbased Heaton's Transport and its subsidiary, Woodwards Truck Rental.

Heaton's other subsidiary, Woodwards of Wigan, was appointed AWD distributor for Lanchashire last month.

Heaton's is supplying two Leyland Daf Roadtrain 20.32s on a five-year haulage contract. The AWD and three Leyland Daf Freighters are on threeyear contract-hire. The deal, with CBS Batteries of Skelmersdale, will also use four Boalloy trailers.
