• Trailer rental company TIP says it has not been put off by the merger of rivals Tiphook and Rentco, which has edged it off the top spot in Europe.
Development director Chris Jepson says TIP is planning acquisitions and that having one, instead of two, major competitors gives it an easier target to aim for.
Jepson says the European trailer rental market is growing at a tremendous rate and that there is still plenty of room for rental companies to expand.
▪ Tiphook chairman and founder Robert Montague last week completed an eventful week by signing up his 2,250th Van Hool trailer at the Motor Show. He said the new merged company would probably be known as CTR-Rentco International. Central Trailer Rental is the wholly-owned subsidiary of Tiphook.
