Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

now! want to enter into the livestock transportation business. Can you advise me whether or not I will make a fair living and what size vehicles will I require? I do not at the moment have a carrier's licence.

ABefore spending any capital on a business

you must ensure that there is a demand for this type of transport in your area. I advise you to inquire of those who normally use this type of transport whether or not they are experiencing any difficulty in obtaining suitable vehicles.

Should youfind that a demand does exist, then complete an application form for a B carrier's licence, which is always better done by a solicitor. The application will then be considered by a Licensing Authority who may wish to hear evidence at a public inquiry. In any event your application will be open to objection by existing hauliers on this type of work.

But in the present political climate when the entire carrier's licensing system is under review it would be advisable to wait until the proposed legislation is finalized before entering into any financial commitment.
