Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FROM the middle of next month, 24-ton gross train weight versions of the Bedford KM will be obtainable from Vauxhall Motors Ltd. Also just announced: that a new de luxe cab for Bedford TK models can now be specified.

Changes in the KM to meet the new 24-ton gross rating include the incorporation of a 10-ton two-speed rear axle and additional assistance to the air-boosted parking brake. Where the model is to be used with a singleaxle semi-trailer, 10.00-20 radial tyres are supplied; for use with a tandem-axle trailer, 9.00-20 radials are fitted.

The 24-ton tractive unit is available in wheelbases of 9ft lin. and 10ft—like the 22ton KM—and list prices with 9.00-20 tyre equipment are £2,403 and £2,413 respectively.

All forward-control Bedford TK chassis, except tippers, can be supplied with the de luxe cab. Interior trim is to a higher standard than on the existing unit and a driving seat of better design is fitted.

A further announcement by Vauxhall states that plating of Bedford TK models has now begun, and that by November plating of normal-control TJ models will be in operation. A booklet has been published giving the revised specifications and this shows that there have beenincreases in gross weights on many models, often accompanied by changes in tyre equipment and in other items including brakes.

Where the specification has been altered the chassis price has been raised. Increases in gross weights go up to around 1,200 lb on medium-weight models, whilst the KH tractive unit goes up from 18.3 tons g.t.w. to 20 tons.
