A NEW and more powerful range of vertical-engined Victor passenger chassis designed for overseas operation has been introduced by Albion Motors, Ltd. The new models are powered by the Leyland Power-Plus 0.370, 110 b.h.p. diesel engine instead of the Albion Victor VTI7AN and AL 95 h.h.p. engines used previously.
There are two models in the range, the VTI7BN and VT17BL. Both have a gross vehicle weight rating of 81 tons, the RN model having a 15 ft. 6 in. wheelbase for 36-37-seater bodywork. and the BL model a 17 ft. 3 in. wheelbase suitable for 40-41-seater bodies.
Apart from the engine, the specification is the same as the earlier Victors. Features include a five-speed constantmesh gearbox which can be equipped with a sixth-speed overdrive and spiral bevel rear axle with hub reduction gears.
Metro-Carnmell Expand Vehicle Division
ESTABLISHED in January of this year, the commercial vehicle division of the Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage and Wagon Co., Ltd., Saltley, Birmingham, has been producing goods vehicle bodywork since March. Current orders cover a wide variety of types, including tanks of mild steel for chemicals and stainlesssteel beer tanks, light-alloy containers and tilt bodies, glass-fibre structures for smaller vehicles and composite bodywork for fire appliances and tippers.
Backed by extensive experience in the building of railway wagon and coach bodies, the company can draw on the constructional facilities provided by works at Elmdon, Washwood Heath and Wednesbury, as well as Saltley. The general policy of the company is based on the production in varying categories of standard types of body structure which can easily be modified.
