Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SCOTTISH operator was guilty of unfair dismissal when it repeatedly issued a driver with wage cheques that bounced. An Aberdeen Employment Tribunal ruled truck driver Ian Chalmers had been entitled to resign from his employment with Global Logistics Scotland after two cheques were not honoured.

As the company did not contest the proceedings Chalmers had remonstrated and provided no evidence to the Tribunal, the with the company and attempted dismissal could not be deemed reasonable. to resolve matters, and he resigned on 11 April. He went on to present his claim to the Tribunal on 21 May. Thereat received a payment of £542 from the compan) balance of £233.36 remained outstanding.

In holding that Chalmers had been construl and unfairly dismissed, the Tribunal order( company, of Dyce, Aberdeen, to pay him £1 compensation and £233.36 in wages arrears. The of dismissal required the employee to show the been a material breach of the terms of the cont employment. In this case, it was a failure to pay that were due and owing, probably the most I mental part of any contract of employment.
