FTA figures show that vehicle operating costs in the UK are almost 25% higher than in some other European states.This is reflected in the increase in the amount of cabotage freight carried out by foreign trucks in Britain, which has increased by more than 600% in three years. The government's recent Survey of Foreign Vehicle Activity in the UK reveals that more than 10% of all foreign trucks on British roads now undertake cabotage.
