Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Chris Tindall reports on a legal row over an allegedly unroadvvorthy truck A MIDLANDS OPERATOR has threatened Renault Truck UK with legal action after buying a used truck in June which he claims is still unroadworthy Paul Feeney says he and his wife Dawn, who owns Birminghambased DPF Transport, bought a Renault Premium 400 for £24,500 fromWoodwards(Used)Truck and Van Centre in St Helens in May.

Feeney says repairs needed to be made, including a leaking roof and he was given an estimated delivery date of around three weeks In fact the truck arrived nine weeks later, on 30 June and Feeney says the roof was still leaking. He claims Trading Standards warned him the truck was a fire hazard. The vehicle also broke down while it was being driven back to Birmingham.

Renault provided a rental truck. hut when Feeney collected his Premium inAugust, hesaysmost of the repairs had not been done.

"Renault is trying to pass the buck," he says. "It's lost me £22,500 with it just sat there doing nothing. I will take them down the legal road because I know! will win."

He has written to Renault Truck UK director Bruce Allison demanding that Renault buys the truck back or replaces it with a Renault Magnum.

Allison says Renault is doing its best to resolve the situation. "We made an offer to Mr Feeney to have the vehicle independently inspected [but] he wasn't prepared to have the vehicle inspected at Woodwards We never said an inspection at Woodwards was requirement [but] has an obligation carry out the work."

Woodwards' MD Robert Heaton says the vehicle passed an MoT before Feeney bought it. He adds: -We have done everything in our power to satisfy the gentleman. It's a used vehicle. It could happen to a new vehicle. We will do the work we feel is related to the original problem." Allison refutes the claim that the truck is unroadworthy and alleges it travelled 100.000km between 2 July and 26 October. Feeney denies this.
