• The Department of Transport will announce the impounding of unlicensed trucks in the next few weeks.
CM understands that the decision is awaiting the final approval of Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott, who is currently out of the country. In opposition, Labour politicians repeatedly called for illegal operators' vehicles to be impounded. It is thought that only vehicles found to be dangerous as well as unlicensed would be held.
