• TNT Chilled is going national next spring, after trials in the North-West secured business with independent retail groups and sandwich manufacturers.
The next-day delivery service, exclusively revealed in Commercial Motor (CM 7-13 August), is designed to deliver short-shelf-life food products direct from manufacturers to retailers.
At last week's official launch, TNT revealed that Spar, Landis, Costcutter and Nurdin & Peacock were among customers already signed up for trials. TNT Chilled will eventually operate out of a hub in Tamworth serving 17 recional distribution sites. it wil use a fleet of 3.5-tonne Ford Transit refrigerated box vans, creating a number of driving jobs.
