TOR LINE is taking over North Sea Ro-Ro's ferry services between Britain and Sweden, Norway and Belgium from January 1, and plans eventually to amalgamate them with its existing routes.
Initially, Tor Line will operate the North Sea Ro-Ro crossings from Wallham to Felixstowe, Immingham and Zeebrugge and its own services to Felixstowe, Ghent and Rotterdam, using one fewer vessel than the two lines operate at present.
It is planned that "in due course" the services will be rationalised, but although Tor Line says this will ease the pressure to increase freight rates, it will still be necessary to increase them to return the services to profitalility.
North Sea Ro-Ro was formed in January of this year to take over the Johannsson Group's Roto Line.
