Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE SIGHT of commercial vehicles driving through builtup areas on their side lights is to become a thing of the past.

The Government has decided that in future all new vehicles must use the new dim-dip lights, which are brighter than side lights but cut out the dazzle caused by dipped headlights.

Transport Under Secretary Lynda Chalker told MPs that consultations were now taking place with interested parties on new regulations. But it was clear from her announcement that the decision has been taken in principle.

It is hoped that the Regulations will be in force in time to apply to all vehicles manufactured after October 1 next year and sold after April 1,1984.

The new light will be connected to the sidelights, so there will be no chance of people being able to drive on sidelights alone.
