THE GOVERNMENT should give British industry a strong boost and invest much greater sums in transport infrastructure, Freight Transport Association president Ian Dallison said last week.
Addressing PTA Scottish members Mr Dallison drew attention to recent Sunday newspaper indications that the Government wants civil servants to spend money on worthwhile public projects and called for this to be devoted to road and rail schemes.
He said there are many schemes already in the pipeline which could be "picked up" very quickly by the Government.
And speaking earlier the same. day Mr Dallison pointed to the by-passes which have been highlighted by the Department of Transport, but which have not yet even been put into long-term projects.
