Meat Transport Costs

Hours Enforcement Reinforcements IT now learned that the extra 100 men which the Minister of Transport has agreed to add to the Ministry's enforcement staff are to be employed on checking drivers' hours, and not on vehicle examination as suggested last week. This stepping-up of hours' enforcement was referred to by Lord Lindgren in Parliament host week (see page 28) but he also made it clear that, in addition, there was to be a strengthening of the vehicle examination teams. It is understood that the number of new vehicle examiners will he 50. which will he quite a sizeable addition to the roadside inspection teams.
