Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Steam Wagon. Tandem Roller.

STAND No. 129.

THE typical outward feature of the new Tasker is the arrangement of the water tank, which, from the nearside view, at any rate, is very reminiscent of steam-tractor practice, having an appearance not unlike a saddle tank. It is unusually.large, is carried amidshipsTounder the frame, of course,-and, so that roam may be left on the off side for the driving chain, is made to project somewhat on the other. The object of this arrangement is to relieve the.axle of some of the tare weight of the chassis.

The principal brake takes effect through the medium of a single encircling band on a large, drum in the differential gear. The brake mechanism is supported by a substantial channel which is carried on the spring seats. The other brake operates on the flywheel of the engine. The arrangement of the detachable rear wheels follows traction-engine practice. The rear axle is a plain round bar, running right through from hub to hub. Flanges fixed to this axle and to the differential sleeve drive the wheels through bolts, a pair to each wheel. The provision of a differential lock is also practice with which traction-engine makers and users are familiar.

The front axle is of the Ackermar type, with central pivots. The axle foraging itself is of H-section. and is forked at each end to embrace substantial forgings in which the, stub axles are mounted.

The engine is an overtype, of orthodox design. Three speeds are provided, and the wagon is fitted with single giant tyres on the rear wheels. The new tandem Steam roller is chaindriven, like the Little Giant tractor, which is also exhibited.
