Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Steam Wagon. Steam Tractor. Electric Industrial Truck.

STAND No. 38.

MRE Ransome steam wagon exhibited is a standard 6-termer, The outstanding feature of the Ransome engine is its flywheels, of which there are two, located within the engine framing, and this gives the machine ssi unusually compact appearance. The steam ws.gort which is exhibited is a three-way tipper with hydraulic gears.

The neat design of frame on this chassis calls for mention, as also does the connection between it and the boiler, which is designed to allow for freedom of expansion by the latter as its temperature rises.

The brake gear is interesting. Both brakes take effect on drums on the rear wheels, there being four shoes in line, each taking up a quarter of the circumference.

There is also on this stand a steam tractor on rubber tyres. R is of the makers' standard 4 b.h.p. type, and is complete with awning. Another exhibit is the. Ransome electric industrial truck, in which each front wheel is. independently mounted and driven by its own motor. The wagon is fitted with a mechanically operated elevating gear, whereby the truck platform, whiel, normally, is about -18 ins, from the ground, can be elevated to the same height as that of an ordinary lorry or railway truck, to allow of loading or unloading without the need for lifting the goods by hand. In the same class of exhibit is the little runabout crane. This, little machine haa in all eight wheels mounted in pairs, each pair being on it own pivot. This machine is eqpipped with a jilt crane with a motor for its operation.

Other exhibits are a steel-framed trailer with disc wheels and turntable steering, a boiler, showing the Ransoms patent construction and, in particular, the one-piece firebox ; and a 5-ton electric chassis, interesting on account of the arrangement of the motors, of which there is one to each rear wheel mounted in conjunction with a spur reduction gear, the final drive being by chains.
