A New Light Van of British Make. Commercial Traveller's 2-seater.
STAND No. 111.
MORRIS pleasure cars have, of course, been remarkably successful during the past few years, the output of the Morris factory exceeding that of any other British maker. Although this concern has only recently entered the commercial vehicle field, we understand that Morris chassis have, beenused with van bodies at the works for a number of years. Four different examples of bodywork are shown on the stand, each of which is mounted on the well-known 11.9 -h.p. Morris-Cowley chassis. In addition, the engine and gearbox unit is shown mounted separately, and forms, a very attractive exhibit. The MorrisCowley four-cylinder engine has a bore and stroke of 69.5 mm. and 102 snm. respectively, side-by-side valves and a detachable head. Power is transmitted through a unit-constructed three-speed gearbox to a bevel-driven back axle. Three tradesmen's vans of different types are shown, each being capable of carrying loads up 1.7. 8 cwt. at high speeds. The driver is adequately protected and the equipment is remarkably complete, a fact which is emphasized by
an exhibit of the tools supplied with each vehicle. These little vans are well sprung and easy to handle, and should admirably fulfil the needs of those engaged hi the rapid delivery of moderate loads.
The fourth exhibit on this stand is a commercial traveller's two-seater. This follows the lines of the two-seater pleasure car, but a box for samples is, of course, fitted at the hack, Here, again, the equipment is very complete, and adequate protection for the driver is provided by the all-weather hood and side curtains. The vehicle is extremely smart in appearance and enables. the . traveller to cover long distances in comfort. and without fatigue. Electric lighting and starting is, of course, provided both on the vans and the traveller's two-seater, and five wheels and tyres are included in the equipment.
