Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Motor Fire Pump. F.W.D. Tipping Lorry and Tipping Trailer.

STAND _ No. 40.

THE outstanding exhibit shown by this company is certainly the new 250-300-gallon fire-engine fitted with a Dennis turbine pump and built for the Egyptian Army. This, engine can run at-'28-30 m.p.h. and-can be driven over soft ground, or even ploughed fields. '

Ttie body is built entirely of teak, including the slatted, hinged seats fitted above the body. The pump is situated at the rear of the chassis on a special platform, and is driven from the patent booster gearbox. A copper petrol tank to hold 35 gallons is held in brackets behind• the driver's seat.

The gearbox provides four speeds forward, and the booster gear gives the in. crease in speed. C.A.V. electric lighting is used, and includes a searchlight..

In addition there is an F.W.D. complete with trailer, and equipped throughout with brakes operated on the West. inghouse system. Both the body on the vehicle and that on the trailer are fitted with hydraulic three-way tipping gear. The advantage of the Westinghouse system is that, if by any chance the trailer becomes detached, the brakes are automatically applied both on the vehicla and on the trailer. The vehicle is particularly noteworthy for its comfortable and well-protected cab with double windscreen and side doors.

The third exhibit is a standard platform lorry, and the fourth a polished chassis, one rear wheel of which is of the Motorailer type, convertible for road or rail, and the other equipped with a pneumatic tyre.

There are many interesting points about this chassis which deserve special attention. The chief of these is the fourwheel-drive arrangement with a centre differential which can be locked when required, and cardareshaft drive to the front and rear axles, a universal joint being utilised in each axle shaft for driving the front wheels and so positioned that the joint coincides with the line of the pivot pin.
