BAICO PATENTS, LTD., are showing a wide range of products, amongst which the fire-engine, the Supertonna char-a-bancs and a new 20-25-cwt. Baico-Lord conversion set are of the greatest, interest. The fire. engineis designed to serve, small communities or to act as an auxiliary in large towns. It is fitted with a multistage turbine pump, suction hose, valves, etc., designed by Dennis Bros., and its length and capacity are such that it can he used to carry a 35-ft.
triple-extension ladder. The gearing can be adapted to suit the requirements of different districts, as regards gradients to be negotiated.
The " Summer and Winter" ehar4banes is mounted on a patented $upertonna, chassis, which gives adequate body support throughout the length and is extremely well sprung. The rear axle is ingeniously supported by a truss and the chassis is guaranteed to be capable of carrying 30 cwt. The charaebancs body is arranged to seat 16 passengers and is normally fitted with the usual Cape hood, but for winter use this hood is replaced by a weather-proof top which can be attached by the hood fittings.
The 1924 Baico conversion set is marketed at a very low price, and is fitted to the Ford mechanism, giving a lorry of 20-25-cwt. capacity. Another new featnre is the 15-cwt. trailer, in the patented construction of which a number of Ford parts are used.
An exhibit of particular interest to those engaged in repair work is the Baico air compressor, which runs at 300-350 r.p,in. This compressor will deliver 10 cubic feet per minute at a pressure of 10. lb. per square inch, and it has been subjected to prolonged tests at 600 r.p.rn. and under pressures ranging up to 180 lb per square inch.
The company also show a. most useful little trailer' fire pump, in which use is made of the Ford engine and Dennis pump. This -is marketed at a very " reasonable figure.
