AGGREGATES FIRM RMC has had 11 trucks and a depot office torched by animal rights extremists who accuse it of collaborating in the building of an "animal torture lab". On 21 May a gang raided the aggregates company's Sutton Coldfield depot where they slashed 88 tyres, cut hydraulic lines and brake cables and poured sand
and gravel into fuel tanks. The thugs also damaged the depot's conveyor belt, cement hopper and site office. An anonymous posting on the Animal Liberation Front (ALF) website claims: "In a finale to a successful operation every piece of equipment was totally smashed rendering the site unworkable." Eleven vehicles were destroyed in all.
The posting continues: "The ALF wants to make it clear to RMC, if you persist in the construction of this animal torture centre then we will wage an unending war against you."
An RMC owner-driver says: "It raises the question, who else is going to be next?"
No-one from RMC was able to comment as CM went to press.
