The Hawk doesn't need to tell you that taking HGV lessons is a pricey business. However, the good news is that driving agency Taskmaster, based in the North of England, is digging deep into its own pockets to pay for the cost of upgrading drivers on its books from Class 2 to Class 1 HCV. A recent success story is driver Chris Metcalf, who has just passed his test and is now in a much stronger position to win work.
The agency is also going to be investing in courses to teach its contract drivers defensive driving techniques. And quite right too, of course. A driving agency should guarantee to provide safe, professional drivers on our roads.
