• Harman Mirror, part of the French Reydel Automobile group. is developing a prismatic mirror • for trucks. Renault Whicules Industriels (RVI) has already expressed marked interest in the new design, according to Harman, and could become the first customer to take the aerodynamic unit.
The design. based on patented prismatic principles, is also being developed for bus, coach and ,'an applications. It all but reincves the outward protrusion from the cab. Cars, however, are seen as the most likely first customer.
Project manager Cosimo Greco claims the benefits are improved vision, reduced damage and lower cost and weight figures. Prototype car and vans designs have so far been built with full electrical adjustment and heating built in. The principles involved meet current type approval regulations and the units could be used immediately, says Greco.
