Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

at ra ies, but it has only one rear light. Could I use it on the road equipped in this way or will I have to bring the lighting up to modern standards?

AIf the vehicle to which you refer was first used before June 1, 1971, then you will be able to use it on the road even

though it has only one rear light.

Regulation 23 of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1 971 deals with the position of obligatory rear lamps and Column 1 of Schedule 1 of the Regulations details the requirements.

In this schedule paragraph 5 specifies that existing large passenger vehicles may have one rear lamp on the centre line or offside of the vehicle and not more than 30in from its rear. The lowest part of the illuminated area of the rear lamp should be not less than 15in from the ground.
